The Jack Russell Terrier was developed in Britain during the mid 19th Century by the Reverend Jack Russell. It was used as a hunter, crawling down larger rodent holes and killing the pests or flushing them out. This is a very aggressive breed that is know for its willingness to attack in spite of its foes size.
The Jack Russell Terrier can adapt to indoor or outdoor living, but most definitely needs lots of daily exercise and attention, and functions best when kept busy. It has a high overall intelligence rating, as well as excellent problem solving ability, and is above average at learning and obeying commands. This is a strong willed dog that needs a firm hand for a master.
The Jack Russell Terrier has a coat of short, wiry hair that sheds little and requires only minimal grooming. It colorings are white with brown, and white with black. Its tail is docked.
