The Klee Kai originates from Alaska as a descendent of the Siberian Husky. It was used as a companion and guard dog. It is a loyal dog, totally committed to protecting its family or master, but to curb its tendency to be over- protective it is important for it to have early socialization training.
The Klee Kai is a cold weather dog that can adapt to either the indoors or outdoors, and is an active breed that needs plenty of daily exercise. It has a high overall intelligence rating, excellent problem solving abilities, and is rated excellent at learning and obeying commands.
The Klee Kai has a coat of thick, medium length fur that does shed and requires a good weekly brushing. Its colors can vary from white, black, to brown, with possible markings on the legs and face. There are three Klee Kai sizes: toy, miniature and standard. The Toy weights around 10 pounds, the Miniature 15 pounds, and the Standard 20 pounds.
