The Kerry Blue Terrier is
an Irish dog that is believed to be a cross between various terriers from the
county of Kerry. It was used to herd, hunt, and even fight. It is the largest
of the Irish terrier breeds.

adapt to the indoors or outdoors, but is a high energy dog that likes to run
and play. It makes a good pet for a family with older children, not mixing well
with young children. It has a high overall intelligence rating. It is a sociable
dog that uses its strength to command other dogs respect.
The Kerry Blue Terrier has
a coat of smooth, wavy, soft hair that does not shed, but need clipping, and
the tail is docked. Its coat is black at birth and changes to blue at 1 ½
years old. This dog with its straight, broad back and thin, short, pointed tail
weighs up to 40 pounds and reaches a height of 20 inches.
