Norwegian Buhund


The Norwegian Buhund originated in Norway, considered to be one of the earliest Nordic herding dogs. It is believed to date back to before the Vikings. It is noted for its adaptability to most any living environment, be it indoors or outdoors. Its protective, alert nature suited it to being a natural watchdog.

The Norwegian Buhund is an active dog that requires regular daily exercise. It has a high overall intelligence rating, and above average skills at problem solving and learning and obeying commands. It makes a loyal family and companion dog that is good spirited and mixes well with children. It does need some training that maybe ongoing.

The Norwegian Buhund has a coat of smooth, harsh , thick hair that sheds and needs plenty of regular brushing. Its colorings are black, sable, and wheat with white markings. This breed with its intelligent, fun-loving nature grows to a height of 18 inches and weighs up to 40 pounds.
