Peruvian Inca Orchid


The Peruvian Inca Orchid originates from Peru and is named for the orchids that the Spaniards discovered during their conquest of this country. It is believed that this breed was primarily used by ancient cultures as a hunting dog. The hairless is more sought after that the coated variety.

The Peruvian Inca Orchid is strictly an indoor dog that is very loyal and loving to its family or master, but leery of strangers. It is a fragile breed that must be protected from sunlight and cold. It also has a highly sensitive temperament which is susceptible to harsh words, a loud voice or any verbal or physically rough treatment.

The Peruvian Inca Orchid has an intelligence rating of above average, along with an above average problem solving ability, and above average ability to learn and obey commands. It makes a great companion pet that is tranquil and unaggressive.

The Peruvian Inca Orchid is hairless with heavy skin molting of various color combinations on a pink or white background. It is sometimes necessary to oil the skin. This breed reaches a height of 15-20 inches and weighs 20-35 pounds.
