The Bergamasco dog breed descends from Asian mastiffs that were crossbred with various breeds from Italy. It is most often considered a herding dog that is affectionate and loyal, coupled with a long memory.

The Bergamaso dog breed has a robust nature that requires regular daily exercise. It has a coat of abundant, long hanging chords of hair, which is resistant and coarse, and sheds. With its dread lock looking hair it requires little to no grooming. Its coat is usually gray, but varies in shades, with black, tan or white flecks. In more rare cases it can be black with some white patches.
The Bergamasco dog breed is a mid sized sheepdog with a height of 24 inches and a weight range of 57-84 pounds.
