The Border Terrier dog breed was created in Cumberland, England, which bordered (thus the name) on Scotland. They were primarily used to hunt the foxes that presented a real problem to the sheepherders.

The Border Terrier dog breed prefers being around people and makes a great pet for children. It can live indoors or outdoors and requires daily exercise (it can keep pace with a horse). Originally it was bred for herding, but is now mainly used as a pet.
