Bulldog

The Bulldog is a descendant of the Mastiffs. It was most noted as a fighting dog, but when dog fights were outlawed the bred declined in popularity. It saw a resurgence when British breeders worked on producing a light yet bulky dog.The present breed was established near the end of the 1800’s. It is often used as a mascot to symbolize strength and tenacity, although the aggressive nature has long since been bred out.

The Bulldog makes an excellent house pet, preferring the indoors, as well as being good natured around children. It has an above average intelligence, problem solving ability, and ability to learn and obey commands. It requires little exercise with a preference for being with its master and sleeping.

The Bulldog has a coat of short, smooth fur colored red, white or a mixture of white and red. With its lovable personality, short face and big snub nose it weighs up to 55 pounds and reaches a height of 14 inches.
